Selfie Prison – The Impossible Museum indaga la relazione distorta tra pubblico e arte nell’epoca del selfie. La sala museale, con le sue pareti blu e le cornici dorate, dovrebbe essere un luogo di contemplazione. Ma qui diventa teatro di un paradosso: figure anonime, in divisa carceraria, non guardano nulla di ciò che li circonda.
Si posizionano invece come davanti a uno smartphone invisibile, trasformando il museo in un set fotografico. La cultura diventa sfondo, ornamento, prova sociale da esibire. Le sbarre nere che attraversano l’immagine non rappresentano la prigionia dell’arte, ma quella del visitatore contemporaneo, intrappolato nel culto della propria immagine.
L’opera mette così in discussione il modo in cui viviamo i luoghi culturali: non più spazi di conoscenza, ma palcoscenici per essere visti. Selfie Prison – The Impossible Museum è una denuncia elegante e feroce del narcisismo estetico che caratterizza la nostra epoca.


In Selfie Prison – The Impossible Museum, the exhibition hall becomes the stage for a contemporary paradox. The figures, dressed like prisoners, ignore the artworks behind them and pose as if preparing for a selfie—captives of their own image rather than engaged viewers.
The black bars slicing through the scene, a recurring element in the artist’s visual language, reveal the true confinement: not the museum itself, but the gaze of modern visitors. The contrast between the deep blue walls, the golden frames, and the anonymous figures creates a powerful and visually striking composition.
Blending pop aesthetics with institutional critique, the artwork questions how museums function in the selfie age and how culture risks becoming a backdrop for personal display.
